Sr. Project Purchaser

You are responsible for realizing the procurement of various goods and services for different newbuilding projects, such that the required goods and services are available on time, under the best possible conditions, and in accordance with the set product specifications. The organisation works with multidisciplinary project teams which are headed by a project manager. He is responsible for the construction of one or more vessels in which the Project Purchaser is responsible for the procurement of the project. The Project Purchaser will be managed by the Manager Purchase of a cluster.
Tasks and responsibilities
  • Purchasing large packages with standard materials, installations, equipment, semi-finished products, main components and parts as part of a multidisciplinary project team;
  • Exploring the international market and selecting potential suppliers. Proactively make suggestions for purchasing alternatives within project team;
  • Conducting negotiations within the responsibilities of the function;
  • Participate in multidisciplinary new building project meetings of vessels for the assigned projects;
  • Responsible for making orders for standard materials and components and monitoring the fulfilment of delivery obligations and contractual agreements by suppliers;
  • Responsible for managing (functional) one or more Jr. purchasers;
  • Having a proactive attitude about suggesting improvements within the procurement process. Supported by process control, analysis and measurable results (KPI).
  • Completed technical and/or commercial Bachelor's degree;
  • NEVI I and preferable NEVI II;
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience within Naval Architecture / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is a plus; 
  • Knowledge and experience in optimizing and supporting Purchase processes;;
  • Good oral and written command of both Dutch and English;
  • We are looking for purchasers with a sense of commercialism, of course, good communication skills and with team builder skills. Analytical and process orientated mind set. Service-oriented and supportive.
Department Information
Purchasing is an integral part of the  supply chain organization. The Procurement Department is divided into four product groups with related procurement groups (clusters), with an integrated Supply Chain Management organization. The clusters are categorized by vessel type and consist of Tugs, High Speed Craft, Offshore and Transport en Technical Cooperation. The diversity of procurement activities is extensive and it is characterized by differences in the number of purchase orders, types of purchase orders for materials, goods and services, number of suppliers, order volume, procurement budget etc.
